MASTERCLASS Series

One of the hallmarks of our Black Women Shining campaign is our incredible in-person convenings. Because we are prioritizing the care and protection of Black women in this difficult season (some of whom are not situationally able to purchase a ticket to the in-person convenings), we contend that a fruitful, no cost virtual community is a better alternative than disconnection or isolation.

Our Masterclass Series, similar to our in-person convenings, will feature some of the best-in-class instructors who very much get the pressure Black women are feeling. More importantly, these women know what's at stake and will guide participants to practical, agency-based solutions. To this end, we cannot emphasize enough how the conviction and teaching of Jada McCray is going to transform your thinking thereby putting clarity and renewed strength within reach. Our Masterclass Series will take place every 4th Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM EST at no cost on Zoom starting . . .

Masterclass Title: Not Yet

Instructor: Jada McCray, COO of BTST Services

Description: Waiting seasons can feel quiet, slow, and honestly confusing. But biblically, they’re never empty. In this masterclass, we’re going to break down what it really means to wait on God without losing your faith, your sense of self, or your direction. This isn’t about sitting around doing nothing. It’s about understanding what God is doing in you while you’re waiting, and how to stay aligned with Him even when it feels like nothing is changing.

If you’ve ever felt overlooked, behind, or unsure if things are ever going to come together, this will help you reset your perspective and get grounded again. Waiting isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

So, if you feel flustered. If you believe God is preparing you for something. If you hear God saying NOT YET, this masterclass is for you. And did we mention it's at NO COST to participants?

Is there a story you've lived through, dreamt, imagined, or saw in public space that just won't let you go? Have you ever gone to see a stage play and the lines were so good, you thought to yourself, "Who in the world is responsible for this dialogue?" Or you went to a stage play and was so captivated by the creativity and electrifying performances that you said to yourself, "I wanna do that."  Well, this masterclass is for you. Our June Masterclass instructor is award-winning playwright Marlow Wyatt and she knows a thing or two about the art of storytelling as a means by which to enlighten, inspire, advocate, and bring truth center stage. A prolific writer, Wyatt ensures that her audience leaves their experience with something to think about.

Masterclass Title: Bricks Without Straws

Instructor: Marlo Wyatt, Award-Winning Playwright

Description: Everyone has a story and every story matters. Own the story inside of you. In this masterclass, we will discuss the power and impact of storytelling.  "Bricks Without Straw" references the many ways we preserve culture and legacy through the art of storytelling in spite of the lack of resources or support from a country founded on white supremacist ideals and the erasure of Blackness.

Consider this your sign to finally get the direction you need to tell the story that's been sitting inside of you.
